What a cookie is used for here

A cookie is a small piece of data a site stores in your browser. Some sites use them to follow you between sites; we use them to remember two things about this one.

Strictly necessary

These are required for the site to function and cannot be switched off. They set no identifier that can follow you elsewhere.

• Your consent choice, so the banner is not shown on every page.
• Security tokens protecting form submissions against cross-site request forgery.

Preferences

Stored in your browser to remember how you like the site. Clearing your browser storage resets them, with no other effect.

• Theme, when you override the light or dark setting your system reports.
• Recently used tools, kept locally so the site can offer them again. This never leaves your device.

Advertising

Advertising partners may set cookies to measure and select ads. In regions requiring consent, none of this runs until you have given it, and declining leaves every tool fully functional.

Analytics

Usage measurement is aggregate and bucketed, and is not used to build a profile of you. See the privacy policy for exactly what is recorded.

Managing cookies

You can change your consent choice at any time from the link in the footer, and you can clear or block cookies through your browser settings. Blocking them does not prevent the tools from working, because the tools run entirely on your device.
