About Ovulation Calculator
An estimate of the fertile window from the date of your last period and your usual cycle length. It is arithmetic on a convention, not an observation of your body, and the difference between those two matters a great deal here. Free, and deliberately account-free: dates this sensitive are computed within the page and never written down by us.
How to use it
- Enter your last period start dateThe first day of bleeding, which is day one of the cycle by convention.
- Enter your usual cycle lengthThe number of days from one period starting to the next. If it varies, the estimate varies with it.
- Read the window, not the dayThe range matters more than any single date, because the timing of ovulation is what varies between cycles.
What the calculation assumes
It assumes ovulation occurs about 14 days before the next period starts — the luteal phase is the more consistent half of the cycle, which is why the arithmetic works backwards from the next period rather than forwards from the last. The assumption holds reasonably for regular cycles and poorly for irregular ones.
What it does not do
- Cycles vary, between people and between months for the same person. Stress, illness, travel and medication all shift ovulation, and none of that is knowable from a date.
- This is not contraception and must not be used as such.
- Nothing entered is stored or sent anywhere. The dates stay in your browser.
- For anything that matters medically — trying to conceive, investigating irregular cycles, or planning around a condition — a clinician has tests that a calendar cannot replace.

- How accurate is this?
- As accurate as the assumption that you ovulate 14 days before your next period, which is a population average rather than a fact about you. Tracking basal temperature or using ovulation tests measures what actually happened; this predicts from a convention.
- Can I rely on this to avoid pregnancy?
- No. Calendar estimates are not contraception. Cycle timing shifts for ordinary reasons and the fertile window is wider than a single predicted day.
