About Word Frequency Analyzer
Counting which words a text actually uses most often is the quickest check on whether a page is about what you think it is about, and the quickest way to catch a word you have repeated forty times without noticing. Free, online, and without a registration wall. Counts are produced locally, so even a confidential draft stays with you.
How to use it
- Paste the textAn article, a page, a transcript — anything where the vocabulary is worth examining.
- Separate the fillerCommon words dominate any English text. Excluding them leaves the vocabulary that actually characterises the piece.
- Look at phrases tooTwo and three-word sequences often reveal more than single words, because that is how people search and how topics are named.
What the counts are good for
Three things, mainly: catching a word you have leaned on without noticing, checking that the terms a reader would search for actually appear somewhere, and comparing a draft against a competing page to see which concepts you have omitted entirely. None of those is about hitting a ratio.
What it does not do
- Frequency is not importance. A term mentioned once in a heading can matter more than one repeated throughout the body.
- This is a diagnostic, not a target. Repeating a phrase to raise its count is keyword stuffing, which search engines have penalised for two decades.
Questions people ask
- What keyword density should I aim for?
- None. Keyword density is not a ranking factor and has not been treated as one for a very long time. Write naturally; use this to notice accidental repetition rather than to hit a ratio.
- Why are common words excluded by default?
- Because "the" is the most frequent word in almost every English text and tells you nothing. Removing that class of word leaves the terms that distinguish this piece from any other.
