Why a pixel is worth knowing about even if you added it
Tracking accumulates. A pixel added for one campaign outlives the campaign, a tag manager container picks up tags nobody remembers requesting, and a theme or plugin can add its own. The page that loads them is the authority on what is actually there, and it is frequently not what the documentation says.
What it does not do
- A pixel injected later by a tag manager is not in the initial markup and will not be found this way.
- Presence is not consent. Whether loading it before a decision is lawful depends on where your visitors are, and that is a question for a lawyer rather than a checker.

- Why does this matter for a cookie policy?
- Because a policy has to describe what the site actually does. A page loading a tracking pixel that the notice never mentions is inaccurate, and inaccuracy is the part regulators and readers both object to.
- Does finding no pixel mean there is no tracking?
- No. It means no Meta pixel was found in the markup supplied. Other analytics, other vendors, and anything injected by a tag manager after load are all outside what this can see.
