About PDF to JPG
Turning pages into images, for a slide, a message, a document that will not accept a PDF, or a preview thumbnail. JPG suits pages that are mostly photographic; for text and diagrams, PNG holds edges better. Choose the resolution you need and convert a batch of pages in one pass. It is a free online converter with no sign up, no account and no watermark on the images, and it renders on your device, so you get the JPGs without uploading the PDF at all.

Choosing a quality setting
JPG quality is a dial between file size and visible artefacts, and the useful range is narrower than it looks. Below roughly seventy the softening around edges becomes obvious on any page containing text; above about ninety the file grows quickly for a difference almost nobody can see. Somewhere in between is nearly always the right answer.
What it does not do
- A JPG is a picture of the page. Whatever was text has become pixels, so nobody can select it, no search will find it, and a screen reader has nothing to announce.
- JPG compression softens sharp edges, which shows most on small text and line art. Use PNG for those.
- Rendering a long document produces a lot of images and a lot of memory pressure.

- Should I use JPG or PNG?
- JPG for pages that are mostly photographs, where its compression is efficient and the softening is invisible. PNG for text, diagrams, screenshots and anything with hard edges, where JPG artefacts are obvious.
- Can I still search the text afterwards?
- No. Converting to an image discards the text layer — that is what conversion to an image means. Keep the PDF if the text needs to remain searchable.
