About Merge PDF
Combining multiple PDFs into a single document is the most common thing anyone needs to do to a PDF, and it is usually needed in a hurry: a signed contract in three parts, a scanned form split across attachments, an expenses claim assembled from six receipts. This online merger is free, adds no watermark to what it produces and asks for no account, and it works without uploading anything, because the merge happens in your browser rather than on a server.
How to use it
- Add the documentsChoose several at once, or add them in batches. Each appears as a row you can move.
- Put them in orderDrag the rows to rearrange them, or use the move buttons. The order shown is the order the output will have, so there is nothing to verify afterwards by opening the result.
- Merge and downloadOne file comes back, with your originals untouched on disk. Nothing was uploaded in order to join them.
What is preserved, and what is not
Each page is carried over whole, so selectable text remains selectable, vector graphics stay sharp and fonts stay embedded. What does not survive is anything that belonged to a document as a whole rather than to its pages: bookmarks, form field state and document-level metadata come from the first file or are dropped, because two documents cannot both supply them.
What it does not do
- Very large documents are bounded by what one browser tab can hold in memory, with no server quota involved, so a merge that succeeds on a laptop can fail on a phone.
- An encrypted PDF must be unlocked before it can be merged; the unlock tool does that when you know the password.
Questions people ask
- Is there a limit on how many PDFs I can combine?
- No fixed limit is imposed, because there is no server quota to enforce one. The practical ceiling is your device memory, and the tool reports a failure rather than producing a truncated file.
- Do I need to sign up, and is there a file size limit?
- No to both. Nothing reaches us, so there is nothing to meter and no reason to ask who you are. How much you can combine in one go depends on your own device rather than on a plan.
- Will merging reduce the quality of my pages?
- No. Pages are copied rather than re-rendered, so the output is the same content in one container. If you need the file smaller afterwards, compress it as a separate step where the trade-off is visible.
