About Split PDF
Taking one document apart — a single page out of a report to send on, a chapter out of a manual, the signed sheet out of a contract. Splitting by range is the flexible form of that, and extracting one page is its simplest case. Each range becomes its own individual file. Splitting is free and needs no sign up or account; it runs online without uploading the original, and leaves no watermark behind.

Ranges, and why they are worth learning
A range covers the case people actually have far more often than single pages do: the section, the chapter, the signed portion. Asking for 4-9 in one step is both faster than nine extractions and less error-prone, because you specify the boundary once rather than nine times.
What it does not do
- Splitting copies pages; it does not reflow content. A table spanning two pages stays split across two pages.
- Links pointing at a page that is not in the output will no longer resolve, which is inherent to taking a document apart rather than a defect.
- Bookmarks and form state belong to the document rather than to its pages, so they do not survive being divided between several outputs.
Questions people ask
- Can I get every page as a separate file?
- Yes, by splitting into single-page ranges. For a long document that produces a lot of files, so consider whether a range covering the section you need is closer to what you actually want.
- Does splitting shrink the file?
- Usually somewhat, because fewer pages carry less content, but not proportionally: fonts and resources shared across the document may be carried into each output. Compress afterwards if size is the goal.
