Three steps, no account, and nothing to install.

  1. Open the PDF

    Drop the file in. Every page is rendered as a thumbnail so you can see which ones are wrong, rather than working from memory or page numbers alone.

  2. Rotate the pages that need it

    Turn a single page by 90 degrees at a time, or select several and turn them together. Pages that are already correct can be left alone — rotation is applied per page, not to the whole file.

  3. Save the rotated document

    Download the result. The new orientation is stored in the file, so the pages appear upright in every viewer, on every device, for every recipient.

A PDF page that opens sideways is almost always a scanner artefact: the sheet went through the feeder rotated, and the scanner recorded that orientation into the file. Turning the page in a viewer only changes your view of it. This tool writes the rotation into the document itself, so the page opens correctly for everyone who receives it.

Rotate PDF: common questions

Why does rotating in my PDF reader not stick?
Most readers treat rotation as a view setting and discard it when the file closes. The rotation has to be written into the page object itself to persist, which is what saving from this tool does.
Can I rotate only some pages?
Yes, and that is the normal case for a scan where a few sheets fed in sideways. Each page carries its own rotation, so you can fix three pages in a hundred and leave the rest untouched.
Does rotating reduce image quality?
No. Rotation changes a value in the page description; it does not re-render or re-compress anything. A rotated scan is pixel-for-pixel the scan you started with.
Will the text still be selectable and searchable?
Yes. Text is not converted to an image at any point, so selection, search and copy behave exactly as before.
Can I rotate by an arbitrary angle to straighten a crooked scan?
No. PDF page rotation is defined only in 90-degree steps. Correcting a few degrees of skew means re-rendering the page as an image, which loses text and quality, so this tool does not pretend to offer it.
Why do some pages look upright but print sideways?
Because the page has a rotation value that your viewer is applying on screen while the printer reads the underlying page box. Saving the rotation into the file resolves the disagreement, which is why a document that looked fine can still print wrong until you fix it here.
