How to unlock pdf
Three steps, no account, and nothing to install.
Add the protected PDF
Drop in the file. It is recognised as encrypted immediately, and no attempt is made to read its contents until you supply the password.
Enter the password
Type the password you already use to open the document. It is used in your browser to decrypt the file and is never transmitted, stored or logged anywhere.
Save the unlocked copy
Download the decrypted document. It opens without a prompt, and it is searchable and indexable like any other PDF.
About unlock pdf
Banks, payroll systems and insurers routinely send statements encrypted with a password. Once you have opened the file, retyping that password every time you read it — and being unable to search across the set at all — is friction with no security benefit to you. This removes the encryption from a document you can already open, producing an ordinary PDF.
What it does
- Password never leaves the deviceDecryption is local. The password is used in memory and discarded — never sent, stored or logged.
- Content untouchedEncryption is stripped; pages, text, forms and metadata are preserved byte for byte.
- Honest about its limitsIt decrypts with a password you provide. It does not crack, guess or bypass, and it does not pretend otherwise.
- Searchable afterwardsAn unlocked statement can be indexed and searched with the rest of your files, which encryption prevents.
Your files stay with you
Unlock PDF runs entirely inside this browser tab. The file you choose is read into your device's memory, processed there, and handed straight back to you — the bytes never cross the network, so there is no upload to intercept, no copy to retain and no retention policy to interpret.
You do not have to take that on trust. Open your browser developer tools, select the Network tab, and use the tool above: no request carries your document.
